The overall goal of this class is to give students knowledge about plants and animals and their relationships to each other, about the workings of the human body, and about humans' unique interdependency on one another.
The topics covered are Plant and Animal Cells, Cell Processes, Heredity, Classification, Invertebrates and Vertebrates, Life Processes, the Plant Kingdom, Human Body, Frog Dissection, and Ecosystems.
Skills emphasized are: using the Scientific Method and doing quality research. Other skills emphasized are comparing and contrasting of information, research skills, lab skills, scientific diagramming, and personal responsibility for one's work.
Methods of assessment will include tests, quizzes, class participation and performance, reports, cooperative learning activities, posters, and homework completion and quality. |
